   The Gray County Sheriff’s Office will have an opening for a Deputy Sheriff to fill a PERMANENT full-time road patrol deputy position. This is a non-exempt position with regular county benefits including a take-home car. Coffey County Sheriffs' Office has an opening for an Officer and Establishing an Employee Candidate Pool

There will be an opening for an Officer position after January 1, 2010. In addition, the Coffey County Sheriff’s Office, Coffey County, Kansas, is seeking to establish a pool of qualified candidates for positions as they become available within the Coffey County Sheriff’s Office, Coffey County Jail and Coffey County Lake. Such positions would include Officer, Dispatcher, Jailer, and Lake Attendants. Minimum qualifications would include a high school diploma or GED and possession of a valid Kansas driver’s license. Officer candidates would have to satisfy all requirements for attendance at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center. Candidates offered a conditional position would be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening as required by Coffey County policy. Some positions may require the taking of a pre-employment test.

The City of Derby (pop. 22,000) is accepting applications for the position of Deputy Chief of Police to assist in leading its progressive department of 44 sworn officers and 19 civilian employees.  Derby is a family-oriented, growing community in the Wichita metropolitan area. Once again I am privileged to advise you that I am serving as chairman of the Awards Committee of the Kansas Association of Chiefs of Police (KACP), at the request of Chief Todd Ackerman, Marysville Police Department, president of KACP.

 

In that capacity I am again requesting of you nominations for this year's awards for our Kansas law enforcement officers.  These awards will honor activities, accomplishments and performance of officers, and/or employees, which occurred during calendar year 2009, and only 2009.

 

Officers and/or other employees selected for such awards, pursuant to tradition, will be honored personally at our annual Joint Kansas Law Enforcement Conference Banquet.  The 2010 Joint Conference will be held at the Grand Prairie Hotel, Hutchinson, Kansas, May 19 – 21, 2010, bringing together, as always, members of the Kansas Association of Chiefs of Police, the Kansas Sheriffs' Association, and the Kansas Peace Officers' Association.  The banquet honoring Kansas law enforcement will be on Friday, May 21, 2010.

 

Enclosed for your assistance is a nomination form.  The form must be used for each nomination and may be copied as needed.
